Custom spaces by Groupe Cartier

At Groupe Cartier, interior design is a blend of beauty and practicality. We create bespoke spaces for high-end residential renovation and commercial fit-out projects across the Greater Montreal area, always in harmony with your lifestyle, your image and the value of your property. Our dual expertise in design and general construction makes all the difference.

Interior design that blends into your renovation, naturally

We believe that beautiful spaces are planned, not improvised. That is why our interior design service is integrated into every high-end residential renovation and commercial fit-out project from the very start. Layout, proportions, lighting and materials are all considered together to ensure the result is as beautiful as it is well-built, and that every square metre is used to its full potential.

What types of interior design projects do we handle?

Our interior design services in Montreal are aimed at owners who want to deeply transform their space:

  • Kitchen and open-plan living area renovations
  • Complete floor, condo or single-family home reconfigurations
  • Commercial spaces, offices and professional environments
  • Modernization of existing interiors while preserving the character of the building

We work both on the layout and structure of the space (plans, volumes, circulation) and on finishes, materials, lighting and the overall atmosphere, with a focus on high-end interior design.

Our interior design approach

Creating a layout and interior design that truly fit you

Before drawing the first line, we take time to understand how you actually live and use your spaces: daily routines, storage needs, work zones, hosting, family or professional constraints. The goal is to create a layout that truly fits you, beyond just looking “nice”.

Enhancing space and natural light

We analyze the existing layout, openings, natural light and structural constraints to propose a plan that genuinely enhances your space. This may include opening walls, creating clearer sightlines or completely rethinking certain rooms to improve circulation and functionality.

Selecting durable, coherent materials

We guide you through the selection of materials, finishes, colours, floorings and lighting elements, taking into account durability, maintenance, budget and overall harmony. The aim is to create a cohesive, quietly timeless interior that will stand the test of time.

FAQ about interior design

Hiring an interior designer helps optimize the layout and aesthetics of your spaces while maximizing their functionality. This professional brings expert insight on trends, materials and sustainable solutions that match your lifestyle.

An experienced interior designer conducts a thorough analysis of your space and aspirations to create a custom environment. With their skills in planning and material selection, they can transform an ordinary room into a unique and functional space. Their knowledge of market trends and ability to integrate sustainable solutions help increase the value of your home or commercial property. They also act as the project’s conductor, coordinating the various tradespeople to ensure a harmonious, ergonomic result that meets your expectations.

For eco-friendly design, it’s recommended to use VOC-free paints, recycled or sustainable materials and to optimize natural ventilation. These choices help reduce environmental impact while improving indoor air quality.

A responsible interior design approach favours local, natural or recycled materials and helps reduce the project’s ecological footprint. By focusing on energy efficiency, natural insulation and the use of certified wood or stone, you can enjoy a higher quality of life while preserving the environment. This attention to detail aligns with the expectations of modern consumers and also reflects current trends in Quebec’s market for sustainable development.

An architect focuses primarily on the structure and technical aspects of the building, while an interior designer handles the aesthetic and functional layout of spaces. The two often work together for a harmonious result.

The architect works on the building’s core structure and technical design, while the interior designer focuses on layout, functionality and comfort. They frequently collaborate on complex projects to combine safety, compliance and beauty. Working with both experts promotes the success of a complete project, from the initial plan to the final fit-out, while ensuring compliance with standards and client satisfaction.

Custom design is perfectly tailored to your needs, allowing you to maximize every usable space and personalize aesthetic choices. This creates a unique, functional interior that’s in harmony with your lifestyle and tastes.

Custom design allows for perfect adaptation to architectural constraints, colour preferences, materials and furniture. Each project is studied as a whole to provide the best ergonomics and optimize traffic flow. The personalized approach highlights the homeowner’s identity, maximizes functionality and increases the durability of the fit-out. It’s also a way to showcase a distinctive style and add value to the property in the event of a resale.
