Complete Renovation and Custom Interior Design — De Touraine Project, St-Lambert

Project: Full interior design, custom cabinetry, structural renovation
Location: St-Lambert, South Shore of Montreal
Year: 2023
General Contractor: Groupe Cartier

A complete renovation is far more than swapping cabinets or refinishing floors. It means anticipating the invisible, managing the unexpected, and delivering a flawless result despite complexity. Groupe Cartier masters every trade under one roof — interior design, structure, mechanical systems, finishing — providing total project cohesion, seamless communication, and full accountability from start to finish. The De Touraine project in St-Lambert is a perfect example of why this approach makes all the difference.

When a Renovation Reveals Far More Than Hidden Potential

Some projects begin with a kitchen redesign. This one quickly uncovered an entirely different reality.

From the very first days on site, the Groupe Cartier team discovered major mold issues in the basement, along with the presence of asbestos and vermiculite in the roof insulation — two issues demanding immediate, rigorous, and certified intervention. Rather than working around the problem, Groupe Cartier made the only right call: start from the ground up.

A full decontamination was carried out, including the safe removal of vermiculite and asbestos found in the roof insulation. The roof insulation was then completely replaced to current standards. The concrete slab and subfloor in the basement were rebuilt from scratch. The French drain was replaced to permanently eliminate any future source of water infiltration. Electrical wiring, the electrical panel, and all plumbing were brought up to compliance with the Quebec Construction Code. This was no longer a renovation — it was a complete rebirth.

An Interior Fully Design for Natural Light and Flow

Once the foundations were made safe and sound, the real design work could begin. The interior layout was completely rethought to improve circulation and maximize natural light throughout every room. The kitchen was even relocated to a new position within the home — a bold decision that fundamentally transformed the daily experience of its occupants.

Every space was custom designed by the Groupe Cartier design team, with consistent attention to visual cohesion across all levels and uncompromising quality in every detail.

Custom Kitchen with Miralis Laminate Cabinetry and Cosentino Quartz Countertops

The new kitchen is built to last and designed to impress. The Miralis laminate cabinetry delivers a clean, durable, and contemporary finish — an industry-recognized choice for its quality and the breadth of its customization options. The Cosentino quartz countertops, selected and installed by Granite Création, bring a refined, hygienic, and visually striking surface that perfectly complements the clean lines of the cabinetry.

Relocating the kitchen to the heart of the home has made it the true gathering point for the family — a transformation that changes not just the aesthetics, but the entire way the home is lived in every day.

Custom Bathroom with Schluter Heated Floors and Vitrerie BV Glass Features

The custom Miralis bathroom cabinetry carries the same design signature as the kitchen: clean lines, quality materials, and flawless execution. The glass partitions and enclosures by Vitrerie BV bring an architectural lightness to the space, creating an elegant separation without ever weighing down the room.

The heated floors integrated with Schluter systems deliver optimal thermal comfort, even in the depths of a Quebec winter — because great design should be felt underfoot, every single morning.

Custom Steel Staircase Railings — An Architectural Statement

The staircase is often the first architectural element you notice when entering a home. Here, the custom steel railings fabricated by the Groupe Cartier team become a true style statement. A refined, industrial structure — precise and deliberate — that speaks in perfect harmony with the softer finishes throughout the rest of the space, anchoring the visual identity of the entire residence.

Basement Transformed: Asbestos & Vermiculite Decontamination, Home Office and Healthy Living Space

The basement, once compromised by moisture, mold, and the presence of vermiculite in the roof insulation, is today a healthy, bright, and fully functional living space. Following certified decontamination and the complete removal of hazardous materials, the concrete slab and subfloor were rebuilt entirely — ensuring a safe and solid foundation for decades to come.

Alumcomplete partition doors make it possible to create a fully enclosed home office while preserving the visual openness of the space — the ideal solution for families who work from home without wanting to sacrifice the flow and brightness of their interior.
